Linkpfad: GDMB > Zn-Fe

from 26th to 28th January 2011 in Leoben, Austria

3rd international conference on networking between zinc and steel industry

The aim of this upcoming event is again to enlarge the network and to intensify the information exchange of both industry sectors especially in the fields of residue treatment and galvanizing. The scope of the conference should address delegates from steel industry, foundry industry, galvanizing business, zinc recycling and waste management companies.

Especially zinc containing residues from steel industry are an important topic of today’s recycling business. Increasing zinc values in the scrap cause high amounts of this valuable metal in the filter dusts of EAF steel production and even in those of integrated steel mills. Especially in Europe the utilization of secondary resources can be seen as a major conquest for the future metallurgical business. Nevertheless impurities lead to a lot of difficulties during the zinc recovery. To overcome this barrier and guaranty an efficient recycling, an interdisciplinary networking between these two metallurgical sectors is one main key.

This is also true for the galvanizing process, the initial step where zinc and steel are bound together. These processes mainly influence a possible treatment of the scrap and therefore can contribute to a sufficient recovery of zinc from steel industry.
